The Metzuda young leadership program equips the future Jewish leadership with skills that contribute community building and development. It is a part of our continuous cooperation with JDC.
There were 20 participants in the classroom at every lecture, the first one being called "The image of a shtetl in the classical Yiddish literature" and the second, "What can the old Jewish card tell" including a slide show of over 100 card examples.
During and after the lectures the participants audience showed great interest in the topics, asked questions and actively participated in the proposed polylogue.
Marina Gatskan, a coordinator of the Metzuda program in Belarus, commented:
"We are very pleased with our cooperation! This is a unique opportunity for young people from Belarussian Jewish organizations to get acquainted with Yiddish culture, traditions of own people and great figures more deeply. We are thankful to the center for the fine lecturer you were able to find in the shortest possible time for us! Natalia connected with the audience incredibly well and the depth of her knowledge is truly impressive. It is also worth mentioning the form of the lectures, use of visual presentations and their content. Such lectures incite research interest in listeners and motivate further study of the topic. We look forward to continuing our cooperation and meeting experts of theYiddish center in our other projects."
