On December 8, 2016, as a part of our cooperation with ORT schools network, the Academic Director of the International Yiddish Center at the World Jewish Congress, Dr. Mordechay Yushkovsky, delivered two lectures in Kiev ORT gymnasium. They attracted lots of students, as well as their tutors and teachers.
Here are the subjects of Dr. Yushkovsky's talks: "Yiddish as a spiritual bridge between Jewish generations" and "Yiddish culture and its educational aspects".The first lecture was devoted to Yiddish culture and language as a symbol of domestic and national memory and for national culture values of different generations. In the second one, spiritual and historic aspects of Yiddish culture, still important nowadays, and methodical dilemmas of teaching Yiddish were discussed.
